Say No to Drugs?
In the United States there is a dysfunctional war on drugs that is taking place. Parents tell there children to “Say no to drugs” all while their bathroom cabinets are packed so full of drugs that you can’t even open them. Schools claim to be drug free zones but yet it’s common place for teachers to pressure parents into medicating there “overactive” child. The average kid has seen thousands and thousands of hours worth the drug advertisements by the time they are 18 years old. Do we really expect them to “Say No?”
Good Ol’ Days…

Headache of the Week: Parking Spot Squatters
I hate driving around looking for a parking spot. I’ve been a midwesterner my whole life and for the most part (baring holiday time) parking spots aren’t too difficult to come by. I don’t even mind parking further away and walking as long as I don’t have to wait. But finding a parking spot quick isn’t always possible. Sometimes you have to drive around for a while and parking spot stalk. What is parking spot stalking you ask? Parking spot stalking is actually quite simple. All you do is drive really slow down the aisle behind someone you see walking through the parking lot and when you[...]

Happy 2012…
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years. The end of the year is the one time each year that I know for sure that I’m going to get time away. This year was no different. I really unplugged for a week or two and it’s actually been difficult to get back into the swing of things. But today I got back into the gym for a lunch time workout and now I’m writing my first Headache of 2012. Looks like I’m finally getting the wheels off the ground. I hope you are too.
Headache of the Week: Too Much Ice
For whatever reason a lot of people are surprised to find out that my vice of choice is [...]

Cookies, Cupcakes and Pies…Oh My!
This time of year it’s almost impossible to lose weight (or even maintain your weight). One of the biggest problems that I have is that a lot of my patients seem to be on a mission to fatten me up. This is the time of year that everyone wants to show their appreciation by bringing me something that is delicious and oh so bad for me. The problem (I use the word “Problem” loosely) isn’t that one person does it…a lot of people do it. The other problem (and this one is an actual Problem) is that I have a general lack of self control when delicious foods are sitting in front of me. [...]

I can’t believe that 2011 is almost over. Several weeks ago I wrote about my “End of the Year Resolution” where I talked about my goals for the end of the year. The bad news is that I’m not making the progress I had hoped for, so I’ll probably have to reevaluate my goals at the beginning of the year. The good news is that I have made some improvements in my diet and I have been getting my butt in the gym which has provided me with the topic for this week’s Headache.
Headache of the Week: Locker Room Nudity
Having played basketball from 3rd grade all the way through high school, I have spent my fair share of time in locker r[...]

You’re MAMA’s so fat…
Here’s the deal…most Americans are fat. HOW FAT ARE THEY? Americans are so fat when they sit around the house, they literally SIT AROUND THE HOUSE. They are so fat, they are on both sides of the family. OK…I’ll stop. (I couldn’t help myself.) It seems like everyone is talking about losing weight but it doesn’t seem like anyone wants to actually change there life at all. NO SIR. That would be inconvenient. So instead of eating well and getting exercise people look for a magic pill, potion or lotion. Perhaps a cleanse or some HCG drops or some special tea will do the trick. But [...]

Headache of the Week: Subway Smell
I was discussing my future “Headache of the Week” topics with someone the other day and I mentioned “Subway Smell.” Immediately the thought that came to her mind was a combination of smells that include urine, beer and gonga. But you have to remember…I’m a midwestern kid. When I say Subway, I’m talking about a sandwich restaurant.
Subway Smubway…
Now I’m pretty neutral about the food at Subway. I do go eat there, but it has more to do with the fact that there’s one super close to my office and less to do with my love for any particular Subwa[...]

In an ideal world we would all be thankful for what we have. We would get up every morning with the understanding of just how great it is to be alive and to have the blessing of another day. Unfortunately, with the frustrations of life we can get really bogged down with the things that upset us instead of the things that raise us up. Every now and then it’s important to do a Gratitude check. Thanksgiving week is a great time to do that.
5 Important things I am Thankful for:
1. My Salvation: I don’t try to hide the fact that I’m a Christian. Sadly, I don’t always live up to the title, but I am a follower of Christ. Lif[...]

I’m going to keep the intro short this week. I hope everyone took time to honor and pray for our military on Veteran’s day last Friday. Also make sure you take time to give thanks during the upcoming Thanksgiving week. It’s easy to get bogged down with life and the mishaps that come with it, but life’s blessings are all around. Enjoy them and give thanks.
Headache of the Week: “Since You Are Up…”
This week’s Headache is near and dear to my heart. It’s one of those things that has annoyed me greatly my entire life. It’s the statement, “Since you are up…” In the history of the [...]

I decided to move the Headache of the Week to Friday. These posts are meant to be fun but they are at their core my complaints about the world. Since I don’t like the idea of starting off the week with a complaint, we bumped it to Friday. So without further delay…
Headache of the Week: Loud Phone Talkers
Have you ever been in a room where someone was talking overly loud on the phone? No matter how much you don’t want to listen, you have to because of the ridiculous volume at which they are speaking into their phone. You know what I’m talking about. It’s that guy that can’t seem to grasp the concept that a[...]
